Concerning the ongoing dispute with Brussels over immigration, the government must follow the decision of the Hungarian Constitutional Court, the prime minister told public radio in an interview on Friday.
Viktor Orbán said the Constitutional Court’s decisions were authoritative in Hungary. The top court said on Friday that areas in which the European Union has not taken adequate steps to implement EU rules, Hungary could apply its own measures. The ruling came after the government challenged an EU court decision regarding the Hungarian policy of sending migrants back over the border.
“We have taken an oath to serve the Hungarian people and the Hungarian constitution, not the bureaucrats in Brussels,”
Orbán said.
When it comes to disputes with Brussels, the Constitutional Court “has the right to decide as the final arbiter”, the prime minister added. The prime minister also announced that 5-11 year-olds will be able to get inoculated from Dec. 15, with registration starting from Wednesday. Around 70,000 vaccines are soon arriving and vaccination points have been designated.
Orbán said pensions will be raised by 5 percent from January 1, while the full 13th month pension will be paid out in February.
“Hungary performed well last year, and we have high hopes for next year, too,” he said, referring to the government’s position that pensioners should also reap the benefits of a strongly performing economy.
Orbán also said that the minimum wage will be raised next year. Employees in the cultural and social sectors will receive a 20 percent increase, while military and law enforcement workers and teachers will receive a 10 percent pay hike. The prime minister warned, however: “If you give money that you did not make, you’ll go bankrupt sooner or later.” The government and the finance minister must make sure this does not happen in Hungary, he added.

The FIDESZ Government with their leader Mr. Orban, is probably the first government is in Hungary that serves the interest of the people. Well Done !!!
Orbán “We have taken an oath to serve the Hungarian people and the Hungarian constitution, not the bureaucrats in Brussels,”
This alone is enough for me to support this government and cast my vote to them in April.
It will be a huge win for Hungarians.
After all this time, the Hungarian government still does not seem to understand that these ‘bureaucrats’ are people sent by democratically elected governments to represent them and that any decisions they make have to be endorsed by the directly elected MEP’s in the European Parliament. Hungary sends a commissioner to the EU commission as do 26 other countries and Hungarians vote for their MEP’s. Get back to worrying about the Maple Syrup issue, ‘Maria’.
No EU member country agreed to cede sovereignty. Presently, Brussels is making up laws that were not enacted at the time of countries joining the EU. Therefore, it is every member country’s right to establish laws for internal affairs. If newly enacted EU law is in conflict with the Dublin Regulation or internal Constitution, the EU law does not apply.
